Do you offer virtual visits or follow-ups?
All visits are in-person at our St. Petersburg location.

How soon can I get started?
Your journey starts when you make your first appointment!

How often will I meet with the medical team?
Your care includes regular follow-up visits designed to support progress, adjust treatment as needed, and ensure your plan continues to align with your goals and response to therapy. GLP-1 injections are administered weekly, while other services are à la carte.

How does MIIS personalize treatment plans?
Every plan is built around your unique physiology, medical history, and goals. Our team uses physician-directed care, evidence-based therapies, and ongoing assessments to create an approach that evolves with you.

What makes the MIIS Wellness Program different from other weight loss clinics?
The difference is that your care is guided by board-certified professionals who are interested in your long-term outcomes, and not quick fixes.

Can medical weight loss be combined with other MIIS services?
Yes, and we encourage it! IV therapy, body contouring, Botox, nutritional services, and GLP-1 therapies are integrated services that support a holistic, results-driven experience.

How does MIIS monitor progress and adjust treatment over time?
Progress is monitored through scheduled check-ins. We’ll adjust your treatment plan when necessary, based on how your body responds.

What is the difference between Gastric Sleeve and Medical Weight Loss?
Medical weight loss is a nonsurgical approach that supports metabolism through medication and lifestyle guidance. Gastric sleeve surgery is a surgical intervention. MIIS offers medical weight loss as an option for patients seeking a non-operative path and to complement the surgical outcomes of pre- and post-op bariatric patients.

How does the MIIS Wellness Program complement weight loss surgery?
If you’ve decided to move forward with weight loss surgery, the MIIS Wellness Program can support you – before and after. Before your procedure, GLP-1 therapy can reduce obesity-related health conditions and lower certain risks associated with surgery. After the procedure, the MIIS Wellness Program assists in reinforcing healthy lifestyle habits, addressing weight regain or plateaus, and supporting long-term metabolic and wellness goals.

Medical Weight Loss

Who is a good candidate for GLP-1 therapy?
GLP-1 therapy is appropriate for most individuals seeking medically guided weight loss. Determining whether this is an appropriate treatment path for you is based on a thorough medical evaluation and a review of your health history.

What medical conditions may affect treatment eligibility?
Certain medical conditions, such as thyroid disorders, pancreatitis, and severe gastrointestinal disease, can impact eligibility. Some medications may also interact with GLP-1 therapy, and a careful review of everything you’re taking is discussed during your initial consultation.

How is GLP-1 dosing personalized at MIIS Wellness Institute?
Dosing is customized to your individual response, tolerance, and overall health. Adjustments to your dose will happen, if and when necessary, at your regular follow-up appointments.

Kelly walking patient through medical weight loss programWhat results can I realistically expect?
Results vary by individual starting points. Many patients experience gradual, steady weight loss as part of a broader, medically supervised plan focused on sustainability.

How long can I stay on GLP-1 therapy?
Duration of therapy is individualized.

Are there side effects associated with GLP-1 medications?
Some patients may experience side effects as their body adjusts, such as nausea and gastrointestinal upset, and the effects are typically self-resolving. The medical team titrates dosing, continuously monitors your health, and reviews your results throughout treatment.

What happens if I stop taking GLP-1 medications?
Some patients can experience rebound weight gain, especially when lifestyle modifications are not adhered to, which is why it’s important to discuss long-term weight management with your medical team.
