Dr. Kevin Huguet

Kevin Huguet MD, MPH, FACS, FASMBS

Dr. Kevin Huguet is an award-winning surgeon, the Medical Director and founder of the Bariatric Program at MIIS Weight Loss Institute, and a practicing surgeon at the Minimally Invasive Institute of Surgery, an affiliate of Tampa Bay Surgical Group in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Dr. Huguet feels honored to serve the community he has called home his entire life. He specializes in minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and bariatric surgery and has helped thousands of patients improve their health through advanced surgical care. He also serves as the team general surgeon for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Dr. Huguet earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 2001, graduating at the top of his class and receiving membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the Mayo Clinic in 2006, followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the Mayo Clinic in 2007. In recognition of his research contributions, he was granted the title of Assistant Professor of Surgery.

A respected leader in the medical community, Dr. Huguet served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Anthony’s Hospital for more than a decade. He has been recognized by his peers as a Tampa Magazine Top Doctor and has received numerous honors for patient care, including the Compassionate Doctor Award and the Patient’s Choice Award.

Dr. Huguet is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

Committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care, Dr. Huguet has performed more than 1,000 bariatric procedures and believes successful weight loss requires a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach. He views bariatric surgery as one important component of a lifelong commitment to health and wellness.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Huguet enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, staying active through fitness, and boating on the waters of Tampa Bay.
